Prairie Rust Antique Metal Art is Preserving Memories from the Prairie's Past

Many family farmyards across the Prairies have been quietly disappearing over the last half century. The farm implements which our grandparents once used to farm the land are thus also disappearing from the prairie landscape. This includes all types of horse-drawn farm machinery such as plows, cultivators, rakes and mowers.

Most of this early farm equipment has been melted down in foundries or buried in the prairie earth they once tilled. Thousands of antique steel wheels, metal tractor seats and rare cast iron pieces have been melted down and forgotten.

Many of these antique farm pieces are one-of-a-kind and irreplaceable. At Prairie Rust we are committed to saving as many of these historic farm pieces as we can.

Some of these art pieces can take months to build in our workshop and are painstakingly handmade using antique pieces of metal and cast iron from different eras to form these unique metal sculptures that reflect the artist's rustic vision.

These found pieces can be repurposed as Garden and Yard Art to place on lawns or in flower beds. Larger pieces could easily be displayed as indoor art installations.
